Do I have to pay to use MyWineAssistant?

We allow all users free access to our service.  However, we have established quotas on the number of objects a user with a Free Account can create.  For example, free accounts can only create 5 wine racks where as subscribers can create an unlimited number of racks.

Our quotas have been set with the intention of allowing many users the ability to access our service for free.  If you have a small wine collection you should have no problem using a Free Account.  If you have a larger collection then you may need to subscribe to fully inventory your wine collection.  Subscriptions start at $9.99 per year.


How is an online service better than a traditional downloadable application?

Online services offer a number of advantages over downloadable software / applications.  Here are a few important benefits.

  • Your information can be accessed from any Internet-enabled computer.
  • Our backup processes ensure your information is safe, even if your computer crashes.
  • You always have access to the latest patches and enhancements.

How secure or private is my data?

Our system is community based, so by default other users can see your wine inventory and nickname.  However, our security preferences allow you to specify the level of privacy required enabling you to hide your nickname and / or inventory.  You can essentially become invisible to other users if you do not wish to interact with the community.

In order to help ensure your data is safe, we do not store any credit card information or any personally identifying information such as your Social Security number or birthdate.  Information such as address and phone number are optional.  We also encrypt all password information to help secure your login credentials. 

If I choose to subscribe, how secure is my credit card information?

We do not store any credit card information locally.  All of our credit card transactions are made through PayPal, a trusted and widely used credit card processing service. 

If I currently use an existing service, tool, or application, can I migrate my data into MyWineAssistant?

In most cases we can migrate your wine information into MyWineAssistant.  You will first want to create an export or report of your data into a tabular format such as excel or CSV.  You can then send a copy of your export to migration@mywineassistant.com.  We can then migrate your data into an existing MyWineAssistant account.  There is no charge for this service, but we would appreciate a subsequent subscription to our service as migration services can be very time consuming.

How can I backup my data?

We offer a number of ways to backup / export your information.  Our reports section features an Excel export that will put all of your information into an Excel workbook.  We also offer periodic email backups that can send you an email backup at a frequency of your choosing.
